Véronique Sanson "Hollywood" / Works > 1976 - 1977

Presentation

Gouaches inspired by the compositions of the French musician, singer-songwriter and singer Véronique Sanson are part of my early work of the 1970s, nourished by what is commonly referred to as "Pop Music".

This work consists of a series of more or less contextualized portraits, produced between late 1976 and mid-1977. From the beginning, these gouaches were exclusively designed to appear on the cover sleeve of Véronique Sanson's Hollywood album (which by late 1976-early 1977 was still at the stage of its writing process and gestation, that is not recorded yet). Reproductions of my works in progress were communicated to Véronique Sanson at the time (on this subject, see the Home page - Véronique Sanson > Background, or click directly here on Background).

The global sleeve project for the Hollywood album under the shape I imagined was not retained by Véronique Sanson. Hollywood in its final version was finally released on October 12, 1977, with a design using photography by Antonín Kratochvil. Later on, in memory of my attempt, I assembled a model of the album sleeve with my artwork in situation, thus showing how the Hollywood album could have looked like, in the version that I had conceived (which can be seen in the Background chapter).
