Jacques Benoit 
I have kept also fond memories of a meeting occasioned by Joni Mitchell’s 1983 stopover in Paris. Along with that telephone call with Jacques Vassal, I also remember having had the opportunity to meet again Ronald Perfit, the Road Manager of the "Wild Things" Tour. I had already met him briefly on this first night when I had approached Joni Mitchell in the Warwick Hotel’s Lobby. Intrigued and amused by my story, the Tour Manager had then asked the musician for my contact details, and he had called me after our first meeting. We had the opportunity to take a drink and spend some time together a bit later.
That is, a day or two after the Casino de Paris’ concert, talking about Joni (what else!). This happened before the band left for the Tour’s Italian next step, scheduled two days later in Verona. Before they departed from France, Ronald presented me with a gift of a set of official documents related to the Tour, some “relics” of Joni Mitchell’s stay in Paris. Very kindly, he then sent me a postcard from Verona.
For a while after that, Ronald never failed to send me postcards from the cities where his business took him around the world.
